The SHACHARUT non-profit organization was established in 2006 by the members of SHACHAR young community in the city of Yoqneam, in order to implement its vision of increasing community well-being and social-educational justice.

The identification of needs, planning and professional supervision are carried out in collaboration together with the local municipal institutions. 

SHACHARUT work focuses on:

• Closing of social gaps
• Increasing individual and community involvement
• Strengthening mutual community responsibility
• Working hand-in-hand with municipal institutions in the local community
• Professional and personal development

SHACHARUT currently reaches over 700 children, youth and adults through 8 projects in the following areas:

 * Programs for children and youth at risk – offering alternative study space, prevention of school dropout as well as individual educational support and communal reconnection

 * Youth volunteering programs – weekly meetings of youth activists, including a study workshop

* Programs for young adults – community involvement of students; and a unique program to assist and support youngsters facing mental problems

* Jewish education and Jewish renewal –study groups for school pupils, young adults and the elderly; as well as municipal events, ceremonies and experimental gatherings
